Propel Orthodontics in Renton, WA
Have you considered improving the appearance of your teeth and smile but avoided wearing traditional metal braces because of time it would take wearing traditional braces? We have good news! Dr. Jaji Dhaliwal and her team at 4th & Morris Dentistry in Renton, WA are delighted to offer an innovative orthodontic therapy, Propel Orthodontics.
Propel Orthodontics is a new, state-of-the-art technology that safely expedites tooth movement. Although individual circumstances may vary, Propel enables many patients to complete their orthodontic treatment in nearly half the time that traditional braces require.
What is Propel Orthodontics?
PROPEL Orthodontics is an innovative orthodontic system that uses patented devices and procedures to make teeth move more quickly into alignment and with as little discomfort as possible. Dr. Dhaliwal can use the PROPEL technique in conjunction with existing orthodontic treatments, including traditional braces or Invisalign, to reduce treatment time for misalignment by as much as 50%.
PROPEL works in tandem with your body’s natural responses, stimulating the bone surrounding your teeth. It is an in-office, non-invasive procedure that helps accelerate orthodontic tooth movement. Patients experience little discomfort from PROPEL treatment.
How Does the Propel Orthodontics Treatment Work?
Propel works with the body’s natural responses to initiate tooth movement. Instead of moving the teeth by exerting an outside pressure using wires, brackets, or aligners, Propel moves teeth from within by stimulating a cellular reaction. Here’s how the process works:
Dr. Dhaliwal will perform a thorough examination to determine which teeth need to be moved.
Before starting the procedure, Dr. Dhaliwal will then administer a local anesthetic.
Dr. Dhaliwal will use the Propel device to make one to three micro-osteoperforations (MOP). These are small “dental dimples” that perforate the gums and jawbone to reach the root area of the designated teeth.
The body interprets these perforations as an injury, so it stimulates inflammation and subsequent immune response. The result is a breakdown of bone tissue, allowing the teeth to move.
This procedure only takes a few minutes, and there is no recovery time. The patient may feel mild discomfort at the perforation sites, although it usually subsides within 24-48 hours.
Patients should not take any anti-inflammatory medication after the treatment, as it counteracts the intended results.
Dr. Dhaliwal will monitor the movement of a patient’s teeth for around 12 weeks to determine the need for additional micro-osteoperforations.
What Are the Benefits of Propel MOP?
By utilizing PROPEL Orthodontics and MOP technology, Dr. Dhaliwal can:
- Shift teeth more quickly
- Enhance existing orthodontic treatments, including braces and Invisalign aligner trays
- Provide effective treatment for a wide variety of orthodontic problems, including overbite, underbite, rotation, and crossbite
Will Propel Work for Me?
Approximately 80% of orthodontic patients can benefit from PROPEL in conjunction with their current treatment, including those wearing metal or clear braces, clear aligners, and temporary anchoring devices.
Dr. Dhaliwal and her team can provide more information based upon each patient’s individual needs.
